Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV
FIGHT: I will tell you what FIGHT means to me in my journey. This week the next letter is I and what it stands for.
Integrity in everything you do! I am not just focusing on me only but how do I bring Christ in my everyday life. How do I surround my everything to the maker and be humble in the things He has placed? So these are the things we face daily.
There is no I in Jesus but we have an US in Him. Letting go of the I and focusing on Jesus will lead to the us.
Integrity, as defined by the dictionary, is “the quality of being honest or having strong moral principles.”
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 NLT
Integrity is about walking right with God when no one but Him is watching you. To me my integrity was tested when I started to work from home.
How do I walk with God and do what is right?
Many of us have to make decisions that define who we are and what we believe in. Most often, the choices we face may seem insignificant. But this doesn’t mean that they’re not important to us: even the smallest action can have an impact on our self-respect, our integrity, and, ultimately, our reputation.
At the beginning of the lock down I must confess I didn’t like it so I listened to a lot of podcasts while working but my heart was not in my job that pays my bill. This meant I was not focused on the work I was doing and not present in the now. Things got harder working from home, the emails got too much and I was drowning in it with little care of what was happening. I had a wake up call when one day I totally forgot to do a task which is very unlike me.
What did I do?
I prayed to God to help me focus and the first thought that came to my head was turn those podcasts off and be present in the now. It was ok to listen to it sometimes but don’t let them distract you. My mind was getting distracted and taught I was doing God’s work not knowing that it was a distraction technique.
What this was doing was distracting me from my actual work that paid me and letting me give only 60% of my attention.
So I turned the podcast off and amazingly the silence was deafening and very much welcome because I was aware of everything around me. I could think and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit with me and I started to meditate on His word while working and for the first time I took Jesus to work with me. This made me more aware of my colleagues and actually started praying for them instead of complaining to God all the time. I will say thank You God for each of them and protect them. I started to listen and pray for how they were feeling at work.
One of things that happened with this silence was I got my work completed accurately and I was reminded that my work was not for men but to Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23 NLT.
The silence was great and I will say if you are working from home try it sometimes, I listen to worship songs as well in the background very low. The reason for this is that I want my mind to be present in the now and be able to make sure I bring my taught back to the present because it likes to wonder sometimes and the loud music is another distraction that the enemy can use against you.
During this quest, I found a great treasure with God. My mind is my own and I can control my thought that is a gift from our Father. One of the things I have control over and so do you. I use it, you can fight evil with good and I’m not saying I am perfect definitely not but God is perfect which means I can do it because He says I will never leave you nor forsake and I will hold your right hand. I trust in Him only and will not lean on my own understanding.
So my quest for integrity gave me Love that I don’t understand, it is not something I was expecting but then God’s ways are always different from us. It is very amazing when God’s plan unfolds and the dots start to connect.
Praise the Lord, my soul. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord .
Lord, you created so many things! With your wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of the living things you made. Psalms 104:24 ERV
“Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.” – Oprah Winfrey
