July 2020 – I have a Choice!

FIGHT: I will tell you what FIGHT means to me in my journey. This week, we looked at the next letter, the letter G and what it stands for.

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. Isaiah 45:22 NIV

There is no one like our God, or will be like Him.

The one thing I LOVE about my acronym  FIGHT is in the middle of it is GOD and His GRACE. Whatever is happening in your circumstances, with God at the centre, I can walk through the darkest path and the light will shine in all darkness and will always hold your hand right to the end. Trust in Him only and lean not on your own understanding. Obey Him and your days will be longer.

His Grace is more than enough for me, even when I don’t deserve it, to all and it is completely free.

The Grace was given to us all, by His word that says:

I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the Lord have spoken. Ezekiel 34: 23 – 24 NIV

Jesus listens and will help whenever I need it. I have personally seen the goodness of our Lord in my life. I grew up in a City in West African called Freetown. During the civil war when it came to Freetown at the time I was a teenager and one of the thing that I will never forget is that our Father is the provider of everything, we had food to eat each day and never went hungry and my papa will  always say “God will provide”, in his act of giving our little that we had with others meant we were given more. So I learnt from a young age that giving means trusting God that He will provide back and also giving does not mean you are expected to suddenly get everything back but shows what it means to love your neighbour as yourself.

Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you?

Luke 6:46 AMPC

What does it mean to practice? The word of God is not a matter of talk but of power. When I took God seriously, like everyone, maybe just me. I started finding sermons on YouTube and the internet and the one place I should go didn’t do it.

Not a good idea but a good lesson to learn, I soon realized  it wasn’t a relationship but getting more information. I then realized that I wasn’t changing at all, I couldn’t grasp the idea very well and didn’t have that burning passion fulfilled inside me.  Something was not right,  so I prayed which is the best solution to everything and should always be the first thing to do. The first thought was “Get it from the Horse’s mouth” If you have ever had that saying or not it meant talk to me. Commune with Him, have a conversation with me and listen to me. How do I do that? Well open your Bible was as clear as anything in my head. I will do and where do I start? This book is boring and long. We will start with getting your mind right first.

Our mind has to be childlike because we can absorb what we read easily, for the Bible is inspired by God to teach, correct, and also train us  for righteousness. All prerequisite has to be left outside the Bible and I had to come into it not knowing anything but with an open mind, heart to learn. The Bible is fun to read and inspirational and has everything you could think about. Reading the Bible means it is an adventure that I go into the scriptures with my senses, imagination and ready to learn.

If we look for Him, we will find Him. I started to understand what it means to have my house on the rock. If I want my house to be on the rock, it means everything in the house cannot be shaken and the foundation had to be strong. That means letting go of all things and obeying what God is speaking to me, of course I can not do this in my own strength. I needed to walk with the Spirit, and needed to start to listen to His word and obey the word.

The journey still continues and watch out for what it means to Love God and your neighbor in the coming weeks.
As you go about the day, remember who Jesus is to us, for He is the Good Shepherd who lays down my life as a sacrifice for the sheep. John 10:11b TPT

Have a wonderful and stay bless.
