July 2020 – I have a Choice!

FIGHT: I will tell you what FIGHT means to me in my journey. This week, we looked at the next letter, the letter H and what it stands for.

This past week, I started at the beginning of ‘Genesis’ where everything started.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 NIV

God gave us breath, we are His image. How amazing is that, look at the world and see the creative Genius of our God and we are created in His image to work and be creative like Him.

Yes of topic, let’s get back to the letter H, I could say it means Hannah (favour or Grace in Hebrew). It is also hope and not the hope I cross my finger but hope that believes in the Creator.

H in my FIGHT actually means “Have” definition – possess, own or hold.

You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Colossians 3:1 GNTD

It is great to have–

Faith, confidence, hope, love in our hearts for others as God loves us, and confidence in myself. Joy, self-control, peace the list goes on.

It is good to have Jesus.

God has given it to us and I am taking possession of it, for I walk by faith not by the things I see or feel. Feeling always comes and goes, so I don’t trust my feelings to do anything.

When I was in the world, I acted like it and God forgave me and forgets it. But then sometimes the enemy will want to remind me of what I did by using others around me to remind me of how I did this and that or even my own mind will bring things up in the past. What to do? This is when I get the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God to help me. I tried with my own strength but failed, ignoring it is also failing because God says “sin is crouching at your door, you must master it”, to master it is to put Jesus at the centre, to fix my eyes on Jesus. Not to ignore the problem, but acknowledge it and use the word of God to fight it for we only fight evil with good.

The moment I get up in the morning, I set my mind on the things  above. How I start my day is very important to me.

Have confidence in myself, now that took a lot of practice and patience with myself. One of the things I had to learn is just jump into the water and whatever happens will happen. What is the worst thing? I will die and the floor will open and just bury me. Well no it will not happen, what can happen is people will come over and say well done. You did amazing out there and that was just great. So my motto is just do it and the worst is I make a fool of myself and learn from my mistakes, which  I prefer over regret.

This past week was a test of who I listen to and how I communicate to others. Yes sometimes it is nice to listen to people other times it is NOT. Listen to God first, because He knows what He is saying and what He has planned for our lives. When God is ready to use us for the good of His will, the most amazing thing is we do not need to have some fancy degree to speak to anyone about God. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and listen to Him for He will show you what to say and do. I have my testimonies to share to others which are more valuable and practical than anything.

Have faith in my God and have faith that the desires in my heart will be accomplished and the key to that is listen and be ready to act upon it. When you listen and when it is time to step, don’t overthink, just do it because God doesn’t wait for any of it to be ready because in our weakness we find strength in Him.

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NLT

Yes I was very inspired by the pastor preaching on Sunday and it was thought provoking and made me think of all the excuses I come up with to God. Thank God he doesn’t listen to my excuses or any of our excuses and just gives up on us. But He is patient and compassionate and loving and gives us chances. If I was Him, I would have given up on me but it is good that His ways, thoughts are not our ways or thoughts.

Just a back track, we are looking at the story of Moses (God’s friend) and the start of his life in the book of Exodus. I urge you to read about Moses in Exodus, he was great in the end but one thing is that God looks past all the flaws and loves us just the way we are. Another thing is that Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s house so he knows how he thinks and reacts.  Sometimes God puts us in a situation to defeat the enemy by working from the inside. The devil used Pharaoh to kill all male Israelist  thinking that there would be no one to save them but God’s plan was to raise someone in the palace who knows the Egyptian’s way and to defeat the enemy. What can I say, our God is the Master genius and His plan is just flawless.

If anything is to be learned, never discount myself.

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. – Abraham Lincoln”

The time spent preparing for the work makes the work so much easier. Now you might say that it must be a dull axe, then we are missing the point. The work actually happens in our trials and temptation. There is always something to learn from our mistakes and teach others so they don’t make the same mistake. Jesus gave us work to do and we are to “be salt and light in the world”, feed the hungry, care for the widows and orphans. Go make disciples of others, forgive as the Lord forgave us. Love your enemies, serve one another and know you are blessed when you are persecuted.

It is a huge task to complete, on our own will be foolish to think we can complete it for we are all part of the body as all parts have a specific function so do we all.

To end my “Have” with “We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things. Hebrews 10:24 CEV”

Thinking that I have the gift from God to encourage another and speak positively to someone else better yet to myself. I want to thank you for reading this far, and I pray that you will find ways to speak positive things to yourself if you are not already doing so for what we speak has life and also we cannot give what we don’t have.

Have a wonderful and stay blessed!
