“Treasure Trove of Information”

OH, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 118:1

Hi and welcome to the vault :), another week has started. Hope you had a good weekend. You know it is so hard to get out and about at this time of the year especially to exercise but today I am looking at REST. Sabbath REST, one thing is for sure that sometimes I am guilty of making excuses to do more work.

Guess I am learning all things and that is the fun of life…

Here is what I have found

When we stop learning then life has no meaning.

This weekend I was at God’s Big Story and it was about The Book of Hebrews (showing us the fulfilment of the storyline of the Old Testament.)

Jesus is the FINAL word to us from God

In the past God speaks to His people in different ways and now only through Jesus

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
He created the universe
He sustains everything by the power of His command

Jesus radiates God’s own glory
Jesus sit at the right Hand of the majestic God in Heaven
Jesus expresses the very character of God
He has the exact imprint of God’s nature
Our Lord Jesus Christ the ultimate Priestly King

You know, the Book of Hebrews shows us a perfect Leader to follow.

Jesus shows us what a human is…

So I was asked a few questions. What kind of human am I? Am I listening?

God is talking and always is. BUT do I really LISTEN… the skill of listening

The moment of REST gives us a chance to reflect and get back on track. When God created the world, at the end of each day we knew that the day was over and it was good

You know what, I learnt something new about REST in chapter four of Hebrews

Why Sabbath? In the world of busyness, do we take a break…

Rest is NOT optional and it is so easy to turn blind eye when someone says I am so tired..

But when someone says I have slept with my neighbours wife or husband we take a step back.

In the sight of God, REST is as important as not coveting your neighbour or killing someone or lying.

So it is very challenging yet it is a command and a very important one for the body, mind and soul… It reset and refocused on what matters.

It tells us a lot about GOD
In all things remember that God is the point - the whole reason for working, for being a human being is because of God.
It was there to remind the Israliest that God is their provider - and to remind us that God is the Provider.
It also gives us the space to reflect on our salvation
Rest on a weekly basis reminded the Israelist of their freedom from salvery and it now reminds us that we are free from slavery. Christ Jesus paid a price for us to walk free. We are no longer a slave!
Rest points forward to Jesus - the ultimate source of our rest

It is in Jesus Christ
That we have righteousness
Our identity is found in Him only
He is our security
Our Hope is found in Him alone
He is my priority - that means at work I glorify God when I work and I should switch off one day a week to realign my priorities and what can I do next week that will point to Jesus.

Yes, so I step back! Here is what I found.

Not by my power
Not by might

Everything is vanity
Vanities of vanities says the Preacher

I will not let my mouth cause me to sin
Nor will I depend on my own understanding

NO! Why should God be angry at my excuses
And destroy the works of my hands?

Better is the sight of the eyes
Than the wondering desire

For all things are vanity
And all desires leads to temptation

This is also vanity and grasping of the wind

So many nuggets gathered, these are jewels that I want to hold on to.

I step out of the busyness and meet Jesus outside the walls

Am I listening, are you listening… God is always speaking but are we listening…

To the very end we are to live in the world yet not of the world.
We are to be salt and light.
That means working in the world with the brightest light that points to Jesus.
The preview image of what following Christ is…

We can be lost in the busyness

so here is what I found out...

Let us go out and meet Jesus
In the Cross it was outside the world of the City
The City that is always busy but stepping out and taking a rest is good
The world rejected Him, yet He loved the world
Love the city you are in that will never accept you
Knowing that Jesus is far greater
Oh dear, look around. It is time for me to say goodbye but... hope to see you again.
Thank you again for stopping by it means a lot to me. Good bye.

Pray you have a wonderful week 🙂
We cannot control what happens around us,
but we can control our responses.
Be bless and know that the Lord loves you
Lots of Love

And I also pray that this verse refreshes you this week:
I consider my life worth nothing to me;
my only aim is to finish the race and
complete the task the Lord Jesus has given
me—the task of testifying to the
good news of God’s grace. '

  1. you made that point very well, Hannah. – I never really thought about it as seriously as other commandments, though I always endeavour to keep the Sabbath. I guess we have got used to some of the world’s values on work and therefore give it a higher priority? Great post. Thank you, Sweetness.
