“Treasure Trove of Information”

“The Last enemy that will be destroyed is death”

1 Corinthians 15:26
Newark, Bilsthorpe
O Lord my God,
how majestic is Your Name
How great are You my Lord
How wonderful it is to
serve our Lord Jesus Christ
You have made Him dominion
over the works of Your Hands

O Lord our God
How excellent is Your
Name in all the earth
I will praise Your Name
With my whole heart

Hi and welcome to the vault, another week has started. Hope you had a good weekend.

My weekend was cold, yes it was next to freezing my bones on Sunday

But I did go to church and fellowship. As I listen to the sermon this week, I reflect and ponder on the topic that all christians know about.

See we started two Sundays ago, “Sermon on the Mount” and this Sunday was on Salt and Light (Matthew 5:13-16)

It is challenging as I seek to find God…

What is in us that seeks the truth? Is it our mind or heart?

These two are different and will get a different response

Do I serve to please men or do I serve to bring God glory?

My mind sees with the eyes which can be deceiving
Yes I ponder, my mind leans on me
If I put too much salt then
It means I am looking with my eyes
And my own understanding and that
Can be an unpleasant taste

Yes salt, a little of it makes a big difference to our palette

I looked at few reasons why salt:

Salt is essential for life and saltness is a basic human taste. It is also an important food preservation.

Think about it!

Light – a phrase that stood out as I listened.

In a room with the light shinning brightly already another light does not make the room any brighter but blends in.

In a dark room and light turns up makes a massive difference. Food for taught.

Thanks again for joining me on my weekend tour, follow me, let us see what we can find today in the vault. Oh look, something at the top of the shelf.   Living within our means:

It is increasingly becoming a culture of normal to have credit yet it is also stressful to keep up with the repayments.

For someone that works in finance, I don’t like debt.

What will we say is living within our means?

When monthly costs and expenses are less than your income which is the amount you earn after taxes are taken out.

Staying within your means – means staying out of debt and save

How do you know if you are staying within your means?

First: Keep a record of where money goes during a typical month. Every single thing spent, from snacks, to travel. This will help you to see where the money goes.

In the world of technology, a mobile app, a spreadsheet or paper and pen is a good place to start and stay on top of our finances called BUDGET

Allow yourself to spend wisely:

By categorising the expenses before the income into needs, wants and saving/reducing debts helps a great deal.

Needs (50% of the salary) – what are our needs? Unavoidable costs that help to keep you and loved ones safe, warm and fed + any tax you owe (if self employed)

Wants (30% of the salary) – not absolutely essential i.e. meals out, cinema, new clothes, holidays

Savings/reducing debts – if the money is not enough then choose reducing debts to clear first. Have savings for emergencies, short-term goals (house debt), long-term plans (retirement) all helps

For every decision made, keep these in mind needs, wants, savings/reducing when it comes to money

Also a note, everyplace and everywhere has different needs, it might be more than 50% goes to your needs then adjust to fit your lifestyle but have the three in mind always.

At the end of the month add up all the expenses

If your total adds up to less than your income then you are living within your means. Otherwise adjust.

Research have shown that financial wellbeing can have a positive effect on both physical and mental health

Oh dear, look around. It is time for me to say goodbye but... hope to see you again.
Thank you again for stopping by it means a lot to me. Good bye.

Pray you have a wonderful week 🙂
We cannot control what happens around us,
but we can control our responses.
Be bless and know that the Lord loves you
Lots of Love

And I also pray that this verse refreshes you this week:
'However,
I consider my life worth nothing to me;
my only aim is to finish the race and
complete the task the Lord Jesus has given
me—the task of testifying to the
good news of God’s grace. '
Acts 20:24 NIV
